Who are we?
Some of us are writers – with varying degrees of experience – some are not, but the one thing we share is a love of poetry in all its forms. On most evenings there is an opportunity – for anyone who wishes – to read a poem or two, either of their own or by someone else. Reading, though, is not compulsory; some come just to listen.
Our programme contains a mixture of ‘informal’ evenings, when we take turns reading poems on a chosen theme, and occasions when members give talks on a particular poet or genre of poetry. Sometimes we have visiting guest poets to read their work to us or to hold writing workshops.
We are a relaxed, friendly group which welcomes poetry-lovers of all ages.
Membership costs £15 per year and members also pay (depending on the type of event) either £3 or £4 for entry at each meeting – a reduction of £2 on the non-members’ rate.
